"Every skill starts with a single brave try."

Our Beginner & Recreational programme introduces school-age children to the foundations of gymnastics in a fun, supportive environment. Sessions focus on building strength, coordination and confidence through progressive skill development.

Weekly structured sessions focused on core gymnastics skills and confidence building.

Beginner & Recreational

All gymnasts start in a Beginners class.
Children learn shapes, rolls, balances, swings and safe landings in a safe, structured environment. Coaches assess each gymnast and support progression at the right pace for them.

Fees are charged monthly. All gymnasts require Scottish Gymnastics membership for insurance.

Payment is for the space not class attendance

  • How many people per class?

We keep class sizes small to ensure every gymnast gets individual attention and support. Group sizes vary by age and ability, with appropriate coach-to-gymnast ratios to maintain safety and quality coaching.

  • How do I pay?

Payments are processed through Sage each month.

If you have any issues with payments or need support, please contact our Treasurer at treasurer@aboynegc.co.uk.

  • What should my child wear?

Comfortable clothing such as shorts/leggings and a t-shirt or leotard. Bare feet are best.

Hair must be tied up and no jewellery, including earrings.

  • Do children need experience?

No — beginners are very welcome. Our coaches support every child from their starting point and guide them through the basics safely.

  • How does progression work?

All gymnasts begin in our Beginner & Recreational classes. Progression is based on individual development, including physical ability, confidence and understanding of fundamental gymnastics skills. Coaches continually assess gymnasts and will recommend progression to the most appropriate class or pathway when they are ready. Progression is not age-dependent and is always discussed with parents.

  • Is there a waiting list?

Yes. We operate a waiting list for all classes due to high demand. Click Join the waiting list to register your interest.
